Creative Journalism
End of the Year Portfolio
This year we have learned about the importance of pictures and how real life photographers and perfected their pictures to make them go down in history. We learned how to make the colors more better in the picture and how to focus on one thing when we take the photo Like we did in our photo essays. I have been taught the rules of thirds and different angles to take the photos from. Later on in life I think it can benefit me when I take photos of myself. I would make sure my pictures come out just as good ad Robert Capa. Dan Eldon also kind of had the same effect as Robert Capa, (we had to do a essay on him as well). He was known as one of the greatest photographers he said "Safety should be your number one priority" unlike Capa who was killed taking photos.

I have learned to make newspapers back in November I made an article called AK Updates a magazine I had did with a partner. It kind of reminded me of what we did earlier this year when we had to make a school newspaper. Older kids in our school came to talk to us to try to get us to do a school newspaper. when we did it I felt that I could gain computer skills and more writing skills. I like writing newspaper articles now and I enjoy doing reports on people.
This year with a group of people I had did a PSA on the prevention of safe sex. My advertisement was basically on using birth control and how it helps prevent pregnancy. We learned how to manage charities and fun raiser events. Even though it wasn't a real thing it still felt good to do something productive and positive. It was a fun experience doing it I learned how to advertise something positive.
Earlier you had assigned us a article to do on something in Rochester. I chose my elementary school because that school is where my father when he was little and it helped shape and build me into who I am today. I've met some of my closest friends there that I am still friends with today. Even though I hated being at the school than, now I have learned to appreciate all that has done for and to me.
Being on the radio doesn't seem like a easy thing trying to entertain people and be serious at the same time. But we were assigned to do a podcast that required us to talk about something interesting you could be funny or serious. I realized that I cannot be script funny that it just has to come naturally for me. So it was kind of hard for me to do even though it was yet easy. It was also hard to make a script.
My over all experience of this year in Creative Journalism was a very rocky experience. Between working with the people in the class to doing some of the assignments. My favorite thing to do though was the photo essay where you had to take pictures and write about them. I found out that not only do I like taking pictures of myself but I like to take certain pictures of other things. The project I didn't like the most was the podcast because I really didn't know what to talk about it took me a while to find a topic and to stay on it without hopping around it. And I really don't like hearing myself talk it sounds weird.
Next year I plan on working hard and making sure I study for my midterm and try to study the vocabulary words we learn throughout the year. I tend to get things mixed up which causes me to mix it up on my test and get a bad grade. I'm going to start applying myself more to work because it feels good to get good grades at the end, and it always pays off later. I know that next year is when colleges start looking at my grades and transcripts and I want to prove to them that I can achieve higher than where I am and hopefully I could prove it to you as well.
